About

My name is Pete, and this is a blog about my two decades of experience with Microsoft SQL Server. I started with version 6.5, and currently use SQL Server 2005, 2008R2 and 2012 on a daily basis.

I am absolutely not a DBA, and I don’t very often tune queries or look at things like plan caches; I’m more concerned with the level above, namely “what’s a good database look like in the first place?” I create all my objects by typing DDL long-hand in a query window, mainly because modern GUIs are far too over-complicated and change every time you look away from the screen. Hence my advice would be “don’t look away from the screen”.

I may also write some posts relating to traditional risk-style scorecards and data analysis.
